On the Baeksang red carpet, actors’ smiles pierce women’s hearts

The 47th Baeksang Awards were held on May 26 at 8 p.m. at Peace Hall of Kyunghee University.  Before the actual ceremony began, there was a red carpet event in front of the hall at 6:30 p.m.  One and a half hours before the awards, the actors started arriving and strutted their stuff before the media and fans.

Many fans from inside and outside of Korea arrived early to support their actors, singers, comedians, etc. and to grab a good spot.  As soon as the red carpet event began, cheers and shouting of entertainers’ names could be heard.  When their favourite celebrity appeared, the fans screamed his/her name and cheered thunderously.

They all took turns to stand at the Photo Wall to have their photo taken which would appear on the programme “Smile” on a certain TV station.  All the actors, singers, entertainers smiled generously for the cameras and the public.

Whatever, most of the actors, singers, entertainers who attended satisfied fans with their smiles.  Many women’s hearts were shot by arrows of smiles.

JHJ:  Hello, everybody!  I am Jo Hyun Jae

NGR:  Hello, everybody!  I am Nam Gyu-Ri.

JHJ:  We’re here today to present a special Lifetime Achievement Award.

NGR:  Yes, actually I haven’t seen him before, but I’ve heard a lot about him since childhood.  I’ve also heard my mother speak about him, so I feel he’s someone I have known for a long time.

JHJ:   Probably no actor in our country has not been influenced by him.  I too have a wish and that is to be like him — to remain unchanging and so cool as an actor.

NGR:  Now let us appreciate the works of our favourite predecessor in the film industry of the Republic of Korea.

JHJ:  The winner is Shin Sung Il.

JHJ is truly an international star (as if we didn’t know this already!)  This video of our favourite Korean actor is made by Thai fans, set to an English version of the title song from a Taiwan TV series “Judge Bao” that first became popular in Hong Kong a number of years ago before it made it to Thailand.  And now you’re watching it from wherever you are in the world – we’re united in our love for JHJ.
