This is an old interview, resurrected to go along with “Father & Sons” extracts which we will be serializing.  Please note that JHJ was called LEE Hyun-Jae before 2003.  That’s the name he’s called in F & S.

A man who looks like a water colour

This new actor with the clear eyes is sitting in front of me.  He makes one feel very comfortable.

He makes one associate him with the pure young man in the novel “Under the twilight” [our translation].

Lee Hyun-Jae said: “The protagonist TF in the novel is very quiet and moody and loving — just like me.  We also like rain, high mountains, and rivers.”  He continued: “But I’m not actually like TF.”

It is said that LHJ is a great swimmer but TF cannot swim, which is why he can only watch helplessly as he older brother drowns.

This young man with the outstanding looks is 180 cm. and is an all-round sportsman.
