Here are your birthday messages for JHJ’s 31st (32nd by Korean reckoning) birthday. Except for the 4 in Korean, all the rest are either in English or Chinese — translated into Korean (your original message also included.)
We can now truly say JHJ is an international star. Your birthday messages come from (in alphabetical order): Australia, Cambodia, Canada, China, Dubai*, England, France, Germany*, Hong Kong, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel*, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, U.S.A., and Vietnam. We are sure JHJ will be very happy and proud to know he has touched so many lives all over the world.
(* Unfortunately the birthday messages from fans in Dubai, Germany, and Israel were sent to us too late to be included in our birthday booklet. They are posted below.)
We thank all JHJ fans for participating in this meaningful exercise. And a big THANK YOU to our translator for all the hard work!
In previous years we simply printed out the messages and mailed them to JHJ. This year there are more than we expected, and from many more countries in different parts of the world where we never imagined JHJ would be known. So we wanted to make it more special but unfortunately did not have enough time or resources. But with the help of our Designer prissymom who never fails to deliver for JHJ and our Translator who is the most dedicated fan, we managed to combine your messages in a presentable format (not ideal but the best we could do under the circumstances.)

For the cover page we put prissymom’s design; then on page 2 is a world map with all your countries respresented by red dots (Dubai, Germany, and Israel missing! Alas!) Page 3 lists all your countries (again no Dubai, Germany, or Israel) – in English and Korean (we reckon even if JHJ does not have time to read all your messages yet, he can at least see where his international fans are from.)
Your messages start from page 4 — in the order in which you left them on this blog or sent by e-mail (no favours.) We have taken photos of ALL the pages — 21 in all.
We found a gift box with a built-in ribbon and the words “Always for you” on the cover. Not as elegant as the CAFE or EVER gifts, we know, but with no experience in star-chasing, this is the best we could do under the circumstances. JHJ of course knows he has many loyal fans in Korea and Japan. We want him to know he is much loved in many other parts of the world too.
Following photos taken with my idiot-proof camera in hotel room (with the battery fast running out!) so please forgive the quality. Messages are printed on colour paper (pastel yellow, lime green, and baby blue – very pretty, but somehow they all look grey in these photos!)

Last message not translated because too long and too difficult (we did specify “short and sweet”)
Late birthday messages that did not make it into the booklet:
Hagit Cohen (Israel)

I like 49 days too.
Thanks for your hard wok. I wish him more and more Project and Drama.

will there be fan meeting with JHJ in it..maybe i could go to Korea so I can see him even once..??
i love his smile..i love andrea..
i know you already closed the birthday wishes comment..but please include my birthday wish for him.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JO HYUN JAE ..!! wish you more projects to come..good health..sarannge oppa..
P.S. Since we completed the above birthday exercise, we have become aware that JHJ really has fans in Russia (and Iran and Slovakia too – these 2 countries’ visitors top access to our blog, according to Alexa.com, AND this is the latest – Saudi Arabia!) We are a little shell-shocked but also exhilarated. We have sent JHJ a follow-up letter (translated into Korean) to let him know the list and map we mailed him earlier is incomplete (new list and map enclosed — do not include Saudi Arabia, alas!) We hope he is happy to know he is loved all over the world. We also hope SNH will take note and make some provisions for JHJ’s international (not just Japanese) fans in future.

You won’t believe how much time I spent on this post! Posting your messages took forever! The spacing, the sizing (lots of trial and error), not to mention my camera has very high resolution, so it took a l - o - n - g time to upload one photo. I couldn’t sit at the computer all the time, so in between I went off to do other things. Every time my husband was anywhere near the study, I yelled at him: “I’m uploading something. Don’t touch the computer!” This happened so many times that in the end he shouted from the bedroom: “Mr. Jo Hyun Jae! May I come in to get a book?” I’m grateful to my dear hubby for being so tolerant and good-humoured.

Above birthday banner is designed by our very own prissymom. Many thanks!
And below is the card we sent JHJ for his birthday, together with our gift and your messages (translated into Korean.) A very simple card, but we like the words (and we’re a Peanuts fan long before we’re a JHJ fan.)

If I could give you only one thing on your birthday …..
….. I’d give you a hug that would last forever!
Please see next post for your B-day messages.
CLOSED!
We thank all JHJ fans who left birthday messages for JHJ, either on this blog or by e-mail. There are more messages than we expected, and from many more countries from all over the world that we never imagined would have even heard of JHJ. In previous years we just printed out the messages (original language and Korean translation) and mailed them to JHJ. This year at the last minute we decided to make them look better. We did the best we could, given the limited time. Please watch out for post on May 9 to see your message. Many thanks once again for supporting JHJ! It will mean the world to him!
First posted April 3 – brought forward everyday for your convenience. So please leave your birthday message for JHJ.

JHJ’s birthday is coming up on May 9. Just like the last two years, we’ll be including your messages to him with our birthday card and gift.
If you would like to send a message to JHJ on his birthday, please leave it as a comment on this post or e-mail us at: jhjfans@gmail.com. It will be translated into Korean and sent to JHJ (together with your original.)
Feel free to write in English or Chinese. Make it short and sweet. And please include your name and country/city, e.g. Jo Hyun-Jae (Seoul, Korea) — to let JHJ know he has fans all over the world.
Deadline: April 14.
Many thanks to our translator for taking time out to help us!

The pictures speak for themselves — no explanation required. The last one contains fans’ birthday messages. The bottle of liquor and the cookies are for Star N Hit.
As for the “medal” (first photo) — what do you think it is? Use your imagination.

Here are more birthday greetings (some of many) from JHJ fans all over the world — Japan, Thailand, Taiwan — posted on http://jo-hyunjae.com, CarpeDiemJAPAN, JHJThailand, JHJTaiwan, JHJHongKong. We thank the creators of these lovely cards, most of whose names are on the pictures, except for #2 Maysatsuki, #3 Ivy-ivy, and #9 Tomopi. Many thanks to their respective websites too!

Above are EVERjohyunjae’s birthday presents for Jo Hyun-Jae. They include (as previously announced):
1. Notebook (Samsung NT-R580) — 15-inch, red wine colour, top of the line.
2. I-POD Touch 64GB (Apple – with MP3 and PMP [portable media player])
3. Bose SoundDock Portable (speakers)
4. Icewine (from the award-winning Canadian winery Jackson-Triggs)
5. Cake, cookies, and Korean rice cake.
6. For Star N Hit — cake, rice cake, and drinks.
EVER says this year is different from last year because JHJ is about to be discharged. So they explored a lot of possibilities before deciding to get him something that would be of use to him in his professional and personal life.
They have also bought his discharge present — a Samsung cell phone — which they will send to him at the end of May.
But the most meaningful birthday present may be this:

These are the two (yes, two – one is not enough!) books of birthday messages from JHJ fans from all over the world. (Our messages are in there too!)
The books are designed by a Korean EVER member who has spent a lot of time and effort on them, not to mention the translation by several other EVER members from different languages into Korean. (All messages from wuliJHJ are already translated.)
These messages of love and support come from not only Korea but also Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, etc. (etc. means Canada, U.S.A., Australia, England, Singapore, Macau – that’s us!)
JHJ must be so happy to receive these message books — they are the best birthday presents!
Also, names of fans/fan clubs that made contributions are written on a card and sent along with these message books. EVER thanks everyone for their love and support for JHJ.

Hello, everybody! This is Jo Hyun-Jae.
Wish you all happiness!
