DC’s gifts for JHJ

wulijohyunjae | June 2, 2011 | 12:04 am

The following are gifts that JHJ’s fans on DC* sent him in May (presumably for his birthday):

This is something typically Korean – fans send JHJ a questionnaire, asking about everthing they want to know.  This one looks like multiple choice to us.  He once dutifully answered 50 such questions (some very personal!)  It’s in one of our old posts.

* What is DC?  The following explanation is provided by my friend B (that walking, talking JHJ encyclopaedia):

AC is Alternating Current and DC is Direct Current.  So DC means getting endless supply of electricity.  In Korean, “current” means now, latest, so to Koreans DC (Direct Current) means latest, newest, most current.  DC is endless supply of the latest information, news, data, etc.

Name of website: www.dcinside.com (means DC is inside our site) – site originally focuses on electronics/IT products, featuring all the latest models (iPAD, iPOD, Windows 7, etc.)  Then http://gall.dcinside.com is established, using BBS mode, i.e. members can sign in and leave messages.  There are many sections for things like Cars, Military, FigureSkating, Opera, even Funeral!  B says “gall” means “gossip mall”, but I think she just made it up!  Fans start to use this site to promote their favourite actors/singers.  The JHJ section on DC is a third force, apart from CAFE and EVER.  Anybody who is not a CAFE or EVER member can go to DC and express her views and post photos/videos.  This is the link to DC JHJ:

http://gall.dcinside.com/list.php?id=hyunjae

If you type in id=seodong (plus the whole string before id, of course), you get everything on “Seo Dong Yo”.  Got it?  If it proves too much of a hassle (everything is in Korean), just stay with our blog.   Anything interesting on DC would be posted here.

CAFE sends supplies to “49 Days” again

wulijohyunjae | April 25, 2011 | 11:07 am

On the evening of April 22, CarpeDiem (Korea and Japan) sent the following meals and snacks (photos are self-explanatory) to the “49 Days” cast and crew while they were filming on location.  We can only marvel at their dedication and consideration – they take such good care of our JHJ (to the extent that even the other actors are impressed.)  Note the special boxes not just for Han Kang/Gang (JHJ) but also for Ji-Hyun (NGR), Min Ho (BSB), etc.

EVER sends more supplies

wulijohyunjae | April 19, 2011 | 8:50 am

On April 16 EVER (Korea and Japan) sent more supplies to JHJ and the “49 Days” crew — fruit cup, rice cake, Japanese snacks (16 kinds),pudding, Starbucks coffee, and energy drink — 60 portions in 10 boxes.

They were originally going to prepare lunch to send to Jinan, but at the last minute found out shooting had been changed to Seoul Palipaket, so that’s where they went.

In the morning they washed the fruit, bagged the Japanese snacks, added rice cake, energy drink, and Starbucks coffee to each portion, and were ready to go.

So as not to interfere with shooting, they put the stuff in a corner of Palapaket.  The staff seemed to be used to this already, so they just took the boxes in.

For JHJ’s portion they prepared more fruit and more variety, and also included ginseng and Starbucks stored value card.

They also prepared special portions for LYW and BKL (the actress who plays NGR’s friend See Yu – the one who works in Paris Baguette.)

Because of the rise in last week’s rating, the atmosphere on set was very lively and energetic.

As for 100% pure male JHJ (their words), even if he is shooting day and night, he is still very happy.  So handsome! So totally immersed in the drama!  Very grateful!

This information is from another EVER post:

When the EVER members brought the foodstuffs to the “49 Days” set, they could not see JHJ because he was busy shooting, so they waited in a coffee shop.  And when JHJ came out to thank them, he could not see them.  So they missed each other!

11.11

wulijohyunjae | December 3, 2010 | 7:00 am

We really don’t feel like posting this at all because 1) it’s old news (but the photos have just seen the light of day), and 2) it’s not exactly JHJ news.  But in the absence of any news at all, anything is better than nothing.

The following photo shows what CAFE sent JHJ for Pepero Day (Nov.11).  Pepero Day is an observance in South Korea similar to Valentine’s Day.  It is named after the Korean snack Pepero and held on November 11, since the date “11/11″ resembles four sticks of Pepero.  This day is observed mostly by young people and couples, who exchange Pepero sticks, other candies, and romantic gifts

Pepero (빼빼로) is a cookie stick, dipped in chocolate syrup, manufactured by Lotte Confectionary in Korea (since 1983) which denied starting Pepero Day to boost its sales.

.

What we really want to post is the following “creation” by our friend B — very unprofessional (JHJ’s face looks like it has been mauled!), not at all subtle, but so sweet!  Thanks, B!

To compensate, here is a picture of JHJ (from the 2010 Japan Fan Meeting DVD) with his face intact:

Key to success and happiness

wulijohyunjae | June 18, 2010 | 7:01 am

IMG 1_0001

That’s the WELCOME BACK gift we will be presenting Jo Hyun-Jae tomorrow at his discharge.  No, no! not the lot — just one key (Guess which one?*)  We’ve written on the card (in English and Korean): “Key to success and happiness.”  We wish him success in everything he endeavours and every happiness under the sun – because he’s worth it!

Our key comes with a chain too (simple and no-nonsense, just like JHJ himself.)  If he ever wears it in public, we’ll let you know.

* We have a little prize – a JHJ souvenir – for the first person who guesses right.

EVER’s birthday presents for JHJ

wulijohyunjae | May 10, 2010 | 7:08 am

E1

E2

E3

E4

E5

E6

Above are EVERjohyunjae’s birthday presents for Jo Hyun-Jae.  They include (as previously announced):

1.  Notebook (Samsung NT-R580) — 15-inch, red wine colour, top of the line.

2.  I-POD Touch 64GB (Apple – with MP3 and PMP [portable media player])

3.  Bose SoundDock Portable (speakers)

4.  Icewine (from the award-winning Canadian winery Jackson-Triggs)

5.  Cake, cookies, and Korean rice cake.

6.  For Star N Hit — cake, rice cake, and drinks.

EVER says this year is different from last year because JHJ is about to be discharged.  So they explored a lot of possibilities before deciding to get him something that would be of use to him in his professional and personal life.

They have also bought his discharge present — a Samsung cell phone — which they will send to him at the end of May.

But the most meaningful birthday present may be this:

E7

 E8

E9

These are the two (yes, two – one is not enough!) books of birthday messages from JHJ fans from all over the world.  (Our messages are in there too!)

The books are designed by a Korean EVER member who has spent a lot of time and effort on them, not to mention the translation by several other EVER members from different languages into Korean.  (All messages from wuliJHJ are already translated.)

These messages of love and support come from not only Korea but also Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, etc.  (etc. means Canada, U.S.A., Australia, England, Singapore, Macau – that’s us!)

JHJ must be so happy to receive these message books — they are the best birthday presents!

Also, names of fans/fan clubs that made contributions are written on a card and sent along with these message books.  EVER thanks everyone for their love and support for JHJ.

wulijohyunjae | April 19, 2010 | 2:01 pm

These are the 18th and 19th times (combined) of gifts (which they call “supplies”) that CarpeDiem (Korea and Japan) sent to Jo Hyun-Jae — for Valentine’s Day and his promotion to Sergeant.  This is a late report on their part.  The 20th one would be for his birthday on May 9.

You can see that they cater for his every need, and there are lots of goodies for his fellow soldiers too.

19th supplies (Promotion Set) include:  Sergeant (4 stripes), so sausages (so imaginative!), snacks, chestnuts, chocolates, mask packs, 84 sets of the above (for JHJ’s mates), oranges and kiwi (Vitamins for spring), tissues, skincare products, ginseng, books (title of top one: “The 5 People You Meet in Heaven”), magazine “Screen” and CAFE magazine.

18th supplies (New Year and Valentine Set) include: Valentine chocolates, assorted snacks individually wrapped, 84 sets of New Year Festival Lucky Bags (for JHJ’s mates), special chocolate for JHJ, potato chips, fruits, tissues, ginseng, and “Screen” magazine.

EVERKorea and EVERJapan sent the above Valentine presents to Jo Hyun-Jae.  You can see they are mostly different kinds of chocolates (some same brand as ours – Godiva – JHJ fans think alike!)  There are also various skin products like hand cream and moisturizers.  The Valentine messages from JHJ’s Japanese fans are so beautiful and colourful!

In addition, the last item is a book of photos and messages of EVER’s FRIENDSHIP EVENT, including our Christmas party photos (wearing the EVER T-shirt.)  They also included the photos and postcards from JHJ fans all over the world that we sent to JHJ via EVER.  (Those of your photos and postcards that missed the EVER deadline have been mailed directly to JHJ by us.)

EVER’s Christmas presents to JHJ

wulijohyunjae | December 26, 2009 | 7:01 am

Ever 1

Ever 2

Ever 3

Ever 4

The Christmas presents are mostly chocolates (there are more chocolates but we think the above are enough to give you some idea.)  Jo Hyun-Jae must have had a very sweet Christmas!

The most meaningful gift is the book of messages from JHJ fans.  That should provide him with plenty of reading material during his break!
