I just want to share what I experienced when I was a so-called stage actress.

There are many supporting roles in a drama, so it is easier to get supporting roles. However, there are only few leading roles in a drama, so it is very difficult to get leading roles. Besides, if an actor or an actress is very eye-catching and attractive, he or she gets the leading role or no role at all.
I believe that JHJ is much more eager to start a new project than us.
An actor (frankly speaking, JHJ is not in the class of super star) has to prepare for the casting of a role. The preparation takes a long time, but he or she may not be chosen at the end.

An actor’s career is uncontrollable, therefore, I do not want to be a professional actress. Stage acting is only my hobby, not my career.

JHJ has won his freedom and right to choose, but there is no denying that his best works were made when he was under contract to Star J (from "Great Ambition" [Daemang] to "Seo Dong Yo".) Since then he does not seem to be able to win any roles in A-list dramas/movies. There are advantages to being with a big management company (Soo Ae is a case in point - JHJ and SA started off as newbies in "Love Letter" (2003), and SA is now one of the most sought-after actresses and JHJ is lagging behind.) Gone are the days when he can be complacent about his career. When he left for the army the K-ent industry was already crowded with so many actors vying for very few roles; now its even more crowded what with k-pop idols crossing over to acting and getting those plum roles because of their big and powerful MCs. Bottomline is JHJ really needs to promote himself if he wants to have a long-lasting acting career. As things are right now, I fear for his longevity in the industry he has chosen or that he would forever be doing the same roles over and over again. I also want him to be happy in what he's doing, but it is his choice to be an actor, no one forced him into it so he needs to accept the realities of the life he has chosen. Given how publicity-shy he is, promoting himself might be a painful experience ... at first... but his fans are more than willing to meet him half way.... if only he'll take that step forward.... michelle, it’s true JHJ said that he doesn’t aim to be a star, he just wants to act. well, for him to be able to snag the roles he wants, roles that would make him truly shine and would challenge his acting chops, he needs to put himself out there. Gone are the days when he can be complacent about his career. When he left for the army the K-ent industry was already crowded with so many actors vying for very few roles; now its even more crowded what with k-pop idols crossing over to acting and getting those plum roles because of their big and powerful MCs.

Bottomline is JHJ really needs to promote himself if he wants to have a long-lasting acting career. As things are right now, I fear for his longevity in the industry he has chosen or that he would forever be doing the same roles over and over again.

I also want him to be happy in what he’s doing, but it is his choice to be an actor, no one forced him into it so he needs to accept the realities of the life he has chosen. If at my age I can learn to run a website for him, he can't be bothered to leave a message or post a photo for his fans? I agree with those of you who say JHJ may be in the wrong profession. An actor cannot exist in a vacuum; he needs interaction with people.
