“49 Days” : Open forum (Updated everyday)
wulijohyunjae | May 27, 2011 | 12:01 am
We’re closing this OPEN FORUM after May 28 since anyone who wants to write anything would have chipped in already. We thank all fans for participating. Many of your ideas and opinions make more sense than some parts of the drama.

This forum opens on March 19 and will remain open all through broadcast of ”49 Days”. It will be updated everyday so you don’t have to look for it amidst all the other posts. You can leave comments anytime and also read others’ comments. Feel free to write in Chinese (we can translate.)
20 episodes of “49 Days” have been aired (series complete.) We’re sure you’ve watched them on our blog or elsewhere.
What do you think? Anything you want to praise or gripe about? Please leave comments below.
Personal attacks on other actors are out-of-bounds. We are only interested in their acting in “49 Days”.
For convenience we’ll use the following abbreviations:
49D (“49 Days”), JYG (Director Jo Young-Gwang), SHK (Scriptwriter So Hyun-Kyung)
JHJ (as Han Kang), LYW (as Song Yi-Kyung), BSB (as Kang Min-Ho), NGR (as Shin Ji-Hyun), JIW (as the Scheduler), SJH (as Shin In-Jung).
Let us start the ball rolling with one pet peeve:
Who eats spaghetti with chopsticks? NGR! In Ep.1 when we see her doing that at JHJ’s winebar, we find that ludicrous. But then who knows? maybe Koreans eat spaghetti with chopsticks. Then in Ep.2 we see LYW also eating spaghetti with chopsticks, again at JHJ’s winebar. Doesn’t the winebar have knives and forks? How strange, considering it looks thoroughly Western. So we watch Ep.1 again, and we see the table laid with knives and forks. Then we realize that must be one of the clues that will lead JHJ to discover that NGR is actually in LYW’s body. Why doesn’t the director spend 3 seconds to explain that it is NGR’s whim to eat spaghetti with chopsticks? All he has to do is let NGR ask for chopsticks, even though there are forks on the table. This is OVERSIGHT of the first order on the part of the director and the scriptwriter. We run a JHJ website, so we know everything about 49D. But how could they expect an ordinary viewer to guess or remember something like this? Unforgivable! There are several close-ups of NGR’s mannerisms with her fingers, also LYW (with NGR in her). But this spaghetti and chopsticks thing should really receive some focus. Is the director JYG too overwhelmed to pay attention to little details like this? This is his directorial debut; shouldn’t he have done all his homework? Storyboard and all that? We’re disappointed – and apprehensive of how he will handle the rest of the drama. He’d better not mess up JHJ’s come-back project! (March 19, 2011)

After watching Sign and the leading actor died I can now accept any ending in any Korean drama. I wonder if there will be a press conference with the scriptwriter why she chose this kind of ending? We can speculate that having to get 3 pure tear drops she will then have a chance to continue with her life. But to die after 6 days is a little bit to harsh ending.
I also agree that if the casting for the 2 leading actress were of equal value meaning #1 actress to be paired with JHJ, and if the scriptwriter dared to pair to either one for a happy ending, the scriptwriter will still be in trouble with their fans.
JHJ did a marvelous job in performing his role. He should not be questioned why he chose this drama because he would not have control in the development of the drama. He would have just been given the theme or plot of the drama to accept or reject the role. He must have been intrigue himself so he chose this drama. A successful one because he was given a chance to shine again as well as show his singing talent.
After watching this 49 Days drama I chose to watch Untold Scandal. He is so young, naive and so cute in this movie.

Dear Jhcwhite and dear flowervase 100 thanks for your comment.you wrote what ich would writen.Perfect
and I think scriptwriter had big mistake.I ‘d wonder too why this drama must so sad ending ??? ..but our opinion is not important and cheng not the ending for our favorit drama:-((((
I like 49 days but for me only 18 episod
Probably I’m the last person who was able to watch the ending. When I got off my shift I was practically driving so fast to reach home. Though thanks to prissymom she already mentioned JH died. But, when I watched it I didn’t believe she died after all what happened to her, what a pity. Guess, everyone has to move on. I was hoping after 2yrs. HK and SYK would be dating at least. Thanks to Wuli. I enjoy your blog so much.
So funny that until now, this drama became hottest of all seasons. Lot of fans still arguing about the ending. So pity to those can’t accept the real meaning of 49 days ending. I understand how they feel because that feelings came to me when i watch love letter which until now the ending remains pain in my heart since i want my otp to be together and happy for the rest of their lives but i accept it and thought in positive way that i watch this because of JHJ and no one else.
Deanne, I agree that bcause of the acting of JHJ as HK is so touching, the audience feel sorry for the ending. From the point of life, “49 days” has a happy ending. Because of the ‘49 days’ tour, HK has the opportunity to love JK, see the love of his mother and contact with his father again. Finally, he gets his strength and picks up his professional again. The love to JK is in HK’s heart forever.
hi Michelle, nice meeting you here..yeah, agree with you too. I hope next drama of JHJ will end up a happy ending and of course have a kiss too!
I am very lucky today! I was able to access http://www.veoh.com. Here is the link to the YSMM Only You TV Special: http://www.veoh.com/watch/v1383909gAYa9rDF
What you will see first is a preview, you have to Install the veoh web player to view and download the whole video. The video has English subtitles. Good luck!!!
Hi prissymom,
Thank you for posting the link for Only You TV Special! You’ve made my day indeed!
Thank you very much for the link, prissymom!!!!
hi Prissymom thank you for the only you tv special link! I had a copy now..All dramas and videos of JHJ is makes me going crazy. OMO, he’s so handsome and hot!…by the way, I’m watching this link right now. Is JHJ has a girlfriend? Do you know who she is? watching this video makes me realized that JHJ seems like a quite person basing on his expression after he answers the questions for him. wooh! i really love him no one else.
deanne, as far as we know he doesn’t have a gf right now. But he said in a recent interview( http://jo-hyun-jae.com/2011/05/05/jhj-pics/ ) that he wants to fall in love after 49D ends. He said the same thing when he was interviewed by the press during his fan meetings in Japan last year (http://jo-hyun-jae.com/2010/08/27/jhj-in-koari-interview/ and http://jo-hyun-jae.com/2010/08/27/i-want-to-love/).
Our dear Hyun Jae is ready to fall in love! I really hope he meets the woman who will love him as he deserves to be loved coz he is such a great guy!
Birdy and dnkt, did you enjoy the OY TV Special?
OY TV Special was quite good since JHJ talked much more than usual. I was lol in some parts and just love him to pieces! Thanks again for sharing this link with us, prissymom!
A little out of topic:
My internet was down since yesterday afternoon and just got back on this morning. So to pass the time, I decided to watch the OY TV Special again (btw, I am glad that those who watched it had a good time!). It made me nostalgic for the drama so I had an OY marathon last night (slept at 2 am, watched up to ep 10).
While revisiting OY I realized that there are a lot of similarities between Han Yi Joon and Han Kang (but fashion-wise HK is way, way above HYJ!!!). It is uncanny how I see HK in some of the scenes in Only You. OY has never been one of my fave among JHJ’s dramas but after watching it again, I can now understand why JHJ gained many fans after OY. HYJ is the precursor to HK! I’d even go so far as to say that HK is the more polished HYJ… HYJ could even be HK with a happy ending (complete with a son!)!!!
prissymom, i am smiling when you said that our JHJ is ready to fall in love! i’ll be the happiest fan if the girl he would be fall in love with, is me hahaha! just kidding….I guess, he already fall in love to someone. maybe this is the reason why he choose the drama with no intimate scene or just simply kissing scene. I agree with you that hoping he meets the woman who will love him as he deserves to be loved coz he is such a great guy(‘”,)
It seems people are still “hungry” for our dear JHJ’s Han Kang – our Alexa ranking, instead of going down now that 49D is over, has gone up instead – as of today it is 604,321.
mr/ms wulijohyunjae, can you sponsor a contest again? Dream roles for him and why is already explored. This time, may I suggest a topic about JHJ lady love since JHJ is ready to fall in love. Can you ask her fans who among Korean actress suits him best and why. Or another topic could be what korean drama so far JHJ was able to portray best and why.
If you have no prize for this contest, fine. But surely, there will be more comments to read because there are many fans who are likely to participate, I included.
Thank you.
It seems people are still missing JHJ’s Han Kang and his song. Two days ago I visited the youtube video of his song the number of visits was only 2000++, but now it is 11,774. Here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cZFgPY2W4k&feature=watch_response
This video of JHJ’s song is not the first one uploaded, that one was removed a few weeks before the OST Premium was released. That first youtube video registered more than 40,000 visits in just 15 days.
prissymom heard about “only you” before but just ignored it but now I am interested knowing JHJ is there….
Yowon, “Only You” is available for viewing at http://www.mysoju.com.
