緣份 (loosely translated as "fate" or "destiny" in English, but not exactly the same meaning, and pronounced "yuan fen" in putonghua or Mandarin [official Chinese dialect]) is a curious thing. The term is actually 2 things in one -- meeting someone is 緣(yuan); entering into a relationship with him/her (hopefully ending up with him/her) is 份(fen). So often two people have 緣 but no 份. Han Kang (JHJ) and Sin Ji-Hyun (NGR) obviously have 緣 but no 份, since he cannot declare his love for her. When they meet again, she is in another girl's body, so this is not exactly a second chance. However they meet, it looks like Han Kang and Song Yi-Kyung (LYW) will have 緣份 (destined to be together.)

I think it must be a very special kind of 緣份 for JHJ to choose this drama, same for the other actors.

When I see the lower-than-expected ratings for "Royal Family" and "Thorn Birds" which started broadcast this week, it seems "49 Days" is destined to have a good start. Also from SBS "49 Days" website gallery, I can see a lot of support for and expectations of JHJ. Compared to the couples in the other 2 dramas, the pairing of JHJ and LYW is like a breath of fresh air in the midst of sex and violence, power struggle, distortion of human nature, etc. that are the staple of most dramas.
