HAN KANG (played by JHJ) – Architect/Designer, graduate of a prestigious American university, operates a wine bar. Loves Sin Ji-Hyun (NGR), but cannot express his feelings because of complicated misunderstanding. From Song Yi-Kyung (LYW) he is the first to realize that SJH’s soul has returned, so he tries his best to have her revived.

SONG YI-KYUNG (Lee Yo-Won) – She hasn’t gotten over the death of her boyfriend and gives up on living. She lives as if she is an inanimate being. Even unaware herself, she ends up handing over her sleeping body to Ji-hyun Shin. As Ji-hyun’s soul possesses her body, it becomes a turning point in her life.

SHIN JI-HYUN (Nam Gyu-Ri) – She was a naive, immature, young lady until she becomes brain-dead after an unexpected car accident. In order for her to come back to life, she must gather 3 tear drops that are “sincere.” However, What she witnesses while possessing Yi-kyung’s body is truth that is too merciless.

SCHEDULER (Jung Il-Woo) – He is a scheduler, who guides the dead to the afterlife. He has a “pretty-boy” image and is the very definition of the word “carefree.” He himself doesn’t remember his previous life at all. He ends up managing Ji-hyun because of her unscheduled death.

KANG MIN-HO (Bae Soo-Bin) – He is the fiancee of Ji-hyun. He is cheerful, confident, generous, and friendly with a warm smile. However, he is also full of pride and self-loving in a twisted way, due to a deprived childhood. Things start to go wrong as Ji-hyun’s accident occurs right before the wedding.

SHIN IN-JUNG (Seo Ji-Hye) – She is Ji-hyun’s best friend. She is 20 years old, who is intelligent and bright. Her strong desire to go to college in Seoul led her to live off Ji-hyun, living in her house. However, what she finds in the city and the world within only showed her, a proud, grown woman, how small she is.

wuliJHJ, what do the descriptions say?
prissymom, we’ve just translated the JHJ part. As for the others, they don’t say much that we don’t know already, so we’ll pass, if you don’t mind.
I hope JHJ really loves LYW and not NGR in LYW, I mean the characters in “49 Days”.
If NGR returns after 49days, what will JHJ do? A happy ending with LYW?
“49 Days” is described as a cheerful comedy. Everything depends on the persuasive powers of the scriptwriter. If you love someone who is not really who she is but someone else, who do you really love? 49 days are enough to know and love someone? Architect and shopgirl? Takes some persuasion.
why is an architect operating a wine bar? does that mean he doesn’t practice his profession? what a waste of his education… just thinking. or maybe the wine bar is just one of his interests. But owning a wine bar seems a fitting interest for our Hyun Jae who is partial to red wine.
I have always believed that one of the conflicts that JHJ’s character will face in the drama would be – who does he really love? Ji Hyun or Yi Kyung (as herself)? But it seems there will be more to it than just that.
If you really love someone, would you allow a misunderstanding to stop you from showing your feelings? I am guessing that the misunderstanding occured when they were in high school, otherwise why show them during their HS years? So if you allow the misunderstanding to fester through the years, do you really love that person? Maybe meeting Yi Kyung will make Han Kang realize what his real feelings are for Ji Hyun…
but i do agree, is 49 days enough to fall in love with someone? is that enough to get to know someone – enough to fall in love with her?
prissymom, our guess is the wine bar is on the side. And yes, we believe the misunderstanding occurred during their HS years. “Complicated” misunderstanding, according to the Korean words. Torn between 2 lovers — that’s JHJ’s role — and it will test his acting ability.
Torn between two lovers, JHJ can easily do his part with flying colours. This will be one of his finest character ever, similar to his portrayal as Andrea. But I hope that his character will end up with LYW and not NGR.
torn between 2 loves – JHJ essays that role so well. No wonder scriptwriter wanted our Hyun Jae for this role.
In LL it is between woman and God; in SDY between Princess and kingdom; in 3D1M between money and woman (5555!). In this drama it is between 2 women – but one is corporeal while the other is in spirit form.
prissymom, all roles now translated – thanks to Ashley of CAFE.
Thank you, very much for posting here, wuliJHJ! And thanks to Ashley of CAFE.
