You’re right, prissymom. JHJ is slow in answering questions, NOT because he is slow mentally, but because he always thinks carefully before he replies. This shows he respects the question and he always gives an answer from the heart. We love your sentence: “Even when he’s not talking he still makes sense to me.” This is called “Great minds think alike.” JHJ and his fans instinctively understand one another.

I don’t know why people think he’s slow, unless it’s because he’s slow in answering questions thrown at him. But that’s because he really reflects on those questions, giving his honest feelings as replies. Unlike other actors who answer quickly, but you don’t know if that’s how they really feel or if those were the replies they were taught to give.
JHJ may talk rarely but when he does, he always makes sense to me. In fact even when he’s not talking he still makes sense to me.

There is a Chinese saying which roughly translates as “Great wisdom can seem dense.” We’ve always suspected JHJ belongs to this rare class. So those people (like Han Chae-Young) who think he’s slow or dull do not know how to appreciate him.

JHJ may claim that he’s not smart and intelligent, but from his answer I can say that he is wise beyond his years – “it is up to human beings to change the present situation” – this answer can be used to address a lot of other issues facing humans nowadays.
