prissymom, very interesting and intriguing! Problem is: could it be too sophisticated for the average viewer?

Set in present day Korea again, 2 very good friends both female, one is WY's descendant and the other one very much like Sun Hwa (in appearance and character). But of course there has to be another conflict aside from the love conflict to make the story more interesting. I am thinking of cyber crimes! Mu's descendant is a computer genius hired by the government to track down an international cyber criminal who is suspected to be based in South Korea. Where does the 2 women come in? They are computer professionals who work for a multinational software company which is suspected to be just a front for the international cyber criminal. The genius' job is to track and shut down the international cyber crime group. But his group needs physical evidence also so that the various governments involved in the operation can prosecute the cyber criminals! That's where the 2 women come in. will they help the crime fighters gather evidence against their boss? they both will, but at some point WY's descendant will seem to waver because she and her friend have both fallen in love with the computer genius, but the genius has fallen in love with her friend. WY descendant left out in the cold again! But she will eventually give way out of her love for her friend and for Mu's descendant.

She will be maid of honor in their wedding, and the best man is the first cousin of Mu's descendant who is based abroad. The best man will arrive on the day of the wedding, his face will not be shown until both he and WY are walking down the aisle to perform their duties as maid of honor and best man. Surprise, surprise, the best man looks exactly like the groom (they could be mistaken for twins)! And sparks will fly between the 2. I get my wish for 2 Jangs to satisfy the 2 women who love him!

How can we be sure that King Mu's descendants are indeed his descendants? The tradition of giving each male child a necklace is still being practiced by the descendants. But of course by this time the story of the necklace is so obscure that no one in the family really believes that they are descended from King Mu. They just think that some rich ancestor came up with the story to impress people. But WY's spirit recognizes the necklace and the bloodline. WY's descendant will be visited by dreams of the past once she sees Mu's descendant wearing the necklace.

That's it. I don't know if I make sense.

I was thinking more in the line of modern-day descendants in present-day Korea. Just a what-if situation, totally fictional characters. What if a descendant of King Mu and Sun Hwa, and a descendant of WY meet in present day Korea? Will WY's love for King Mu be fulfilled this time? Or will King Mu's descendant fall in love with another woman who is a lot like Princess Sun Hwa? And to add more conflict into the story, why not make one of the descendants be a North Korean and the other a South Korean? If WY's love for King Mu is fulfilled in this lifetime, then we see her soul/spirit finally having peace; but if the love is not fulfilled again then we'll see her soul/spirit wandering again. This is just one storyline to follow, I have another one, if you are interested I will share it too.

No, I did not include this in my letter to Mr. Lee, I forgot all about it until I read your article.

prissymom, are you suggesting a sequel to SDY? Did you write this in your letter to Mr. Lee? This has happened in other dramas, with Song Il Gook who is the title character in "Ju Mong" also plays his grandson in a later drama. Problem is: the little prince who appears briefly in SDY doesn't look too promising. And wasn't Baekjae absorbed by Shilla?

I am glad at the way the writer/director treated Woo Young's character - they turned her into Jang's ally instead of turning her into a bitter woman due to unrequited love. I like that her love for Jang gave her the courage/strength to turn her back on the evil ways of her relatives. I've had enough of spurned women becoming evil in other dramas!

When WY said the line you quoted above I really felt so bad for her, I even wished that there are 3 Jangs in the drama: 1 for Sun Hwa, 1 for WY, and 1 for Eun Jin (I like Eun Jin also, she is so child-like in her love for Jang, but gave way graciously when she saw that Jang is really not for her).

WY's speech (quoted above) also made me think that that could be a nice storyline to explore, their descendants meeting again thousands of years into the future. The conflict will be will WY's love be given a chance this time or will it be Jang and Sun Hwa all over again?
